The way in which companies decide to create internal networks, store data, connect with employees and connect to external networks has recently seen enormous changes (smart working, cloud systems for sharing data, information and documents, etc.) activated. in the lockdown phase and subsequently valued in the reopening phase. Precisely in this context, the System Administrator profession is called upon to manage hybrid environments, in which companies distribute the load between a traditional on-premise data center, private cloud, public cloud, co-location structures and classic outsourcing. . This profile is increasingly required to support the evolution of systems and migration, as well as to manage the integrations of the various solutions in some cases. If until a few years ago the systems engineer was involved in integrating internal solutions, today in an increasingly connected world, where we move from an internal Farm server to cloud platforms, the systems engineer must have the skills to integrate external solutions into an increasingly more technology. open, between web services and api, and an economy of digital services, so rather than installing a mail server you will have to understand which mail service to acquire in the cloud and how to use it in the company. Among the skills, he must also acquire the new continuous delivery methodologies that start from agile development techniques and arrive at dev / ops methodologies. In this context, the Systems Engineer also plays a central role in the management of the most advanced protection systems in line with the evolution of IT risks and cyber attacks since the more cloud computing expands, the more space exposed to hackers increases. Cloud security is therefore an obligation for companies, an obligation to be entrusted to a competent System Administrator.
